I would sent back to the private school. The advantage is that the families at the private school are more likely to share the same basic values, and I have found that the discipline is better and helps to prevent bullying. I would still try and get answers from the public school so that you can identify the problem and help your son work through the issues.

Awe. That is AWFUL. :(
I would stay on the teachers about his treatment. If not, I would enroll him right back into private schools. I don't think all private schools babies kids at all. The problem is, if your child is going to a school where he is that unhappy, his grades will suffer (you will see this when he gets older). That will cause another can of worms to open. Some public schools are so overwhelmed, they can't seem to work on these matters with students sufficiently. You deserve answers though, and he deserves improvement with these other kids. DO what your guts says is right. That is what I would do.
By the way, the comment about no child likes school isn't true for all kids. My child LOOOOOOVES school. If your child hates school, there is a problem with that school.

I have to say that I feel your son. However, changing him to a private school may not be any better. I have found that if private or public the kids are still a little nasty. I am pretty sure that not al the children are mean to him. Instead, teach him how to ignore what people say and feel confident in who he is. A lifelong lesson is better than a temporary solution anyday.

If it's a large class, there probably are some mean kids. But there probably are lots of nice ones as well. I would try to find out from your son if any of the kids are nice. Then you can try and foster those friendships by inviting those children over for playdates, or offering to take the kids to a carnival or some such. Having just one or two friends can make a world of difference.....

NO!!! Private schools shelter kids way to much, and they become door mats for society. Unfortunately you are going to have to tell your son to suck it up, and stop letting him come home "sick", No child likes school, no matter how old they are it's just the way it is. He will have to adapt to make friends, and stand up for himself when kids make fun of him, it's a part of life, and it will never go away. Hopefully you and the people in his life have instilled the right moral fiber so he makes good desicions and will be a well adjusted, well mannered kid. Good Luck!!!

Push to get answers from the teachers and teacher's aids. There is a pretty serious reason (to him) why he doesn't want to go back. He has to tell you at least some idea of what it is, but push.
My dtr hated her class and did the same thing. After three months of her hating it, we finally found out one of the parent/aids was being a jerk to her.

I would put him back in the Lutheran school...the sort of people that go to public schools usually come from families that have not a clue of what 'civilized' means.
