I haven't seen it, but I would definitely suggest the books. There is some similarity between Paolini's trilogy and Star Wars/Lord of the Rings, but then again, he's basing the story in a kind of medieval setting with magic, so it's going to be the same. I have no idea if the movie is any good, but from the looks of the commercials, I'd say unfortunately not. So, from your description, I take it the emotional development of the characters in the film was all but zero.

The book was awesome. I read it when it first came out and it was nothing like the Rings even though it was pretty complex and well thought out. I was afraid to see the movie because Hollywood often makes a mess of great books. Thanks for the tip. But I would suggest reading the book if you get a chance.

yeah i saw it-it was horrible!
it was hard for me to focus cuz it didn't interest me at all!
the movie wasn't deep enough into the plot....
girl is on a bed w/ a man standing over her
eragon has girl in dreams
eragon's Uncle? dies
dragon pops out of "mysterious" egg
eragon meets random man who he suddenly trusts
they go to some random island where they kill people
they come back and the random friend dies in the arms of the girl
eragon becomes a hero
girl goes back to being a princess or whatever
the end
Great Movie! NOT!!
i was sort of confused in the beginning becuz it didn't really get the whole dragon thing becuz they didn't really explain it-so when the dragon popped out i was just like WTF? what's going on?

I haven't seen it, but most of the kids in my classes who have seen it say that if you haven't read the book then it's a great movie, but if you have read the book it's a disgusting excuse for a movie; because the movie, they say, hardly follows the book at all.

The movie bites the big one. I was disappointed in it. Bad directing, poor character development and the dialog was worse ....

i hate when one movie copies another, the only example i can think of now is Cow Bells and Material Girls. The latter completely copied the former.

I don't know why everyone hates this movie. It was formulaic, but it was better than most of the garbage Hollywood has been pushing this year. I liked it. It didn't make me go "Wow!", but I liked it.
