1. You need to know the slope-intercept formula >>>
>>>> y = mx + b

First: add 9 to both sides because moving to the opposite side means opposite sign:

2x - 3y - 9 + 9
2x - 3y = 9

Second: subtract 2x from both sides:

2x - 2x - 3y = -2x + 9
-3y = -2x + 9

Third: solve for "y" and keeping it on one side > divide everything by -3 >>>

-3y/-3 = -2x/-3 + 9/-3
y = 2x/3 - 3

2. *Same format as number 1 >>>

First: subtract 6 from both sides:

3x + 2y + 6 - 6 = 0 - 6
3x + 2y = - 6

Second: subtract 3x from both sides:

3x - 3x + 2y = -3x - 6
2y = -3x - 6

Third: divide both sides by 2:

2y/2 = -3x/2 - 6/2
y = -3x/2 - 3

3. y = 4 is already in the slope-intercept form

Do you mean slope-intercept form? y=mx+b

Then solve for y in each of the equations.

2x-9=3y
divide by 3
(2/3)x-3=y

2y=-3x-6
divide by 2
y=(-3/2)x-3

y=2x

y=4

Slope form is y=mx+b

so first u have to isolate the y

-3y=-2x+9
***y=2/3x-3**** Theres the answer to #1
2y=-3x-6
***y=-3/2-3**** Theres #2
-y=-2x
***y=2x**** Thats #3
and #4 is already in proper form

slope form is : y = mx +b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. Therefore all you need to do is to solve each of the equations for y. Hopefully you can do that. If not, slope form will be complicated for you.

2006-12-20 16:37:02 · answer #6 · answered by Ray 5 · 0 0

y=2/3x-3, or in standard form, 2x-3y=9
thats the first one.
