Personally, I think the Cubs will be able to win 80-85 games on pure talent, but if they learn how to play as a team, with the big guys like Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez coming through in the clutch, players doing the little things correctly, Kerry Wood and Mark Prior coming back strong, and everyone keeping their form, with development from Rich Hill, they could very easily be a dominant power in the Central, winning 95-100 games.

I could see 85 wins. 90 if they stay healthy. after that, its a tossup. if you win more than 90 games in a season, you dont worry about exactly how many, unless theres a half game between you and St Louis, lol. 90 wins usually creates a 10 game lead, so i discount any competitive teams at that level.
Wood should be a 2 or 3 starter, and I could see Prior as a 2, even the ace. Neither he nor Wood has been healthy, and that makes all the diff. Wood has an oh-my-god rising fastball when he's on, and few hitters are going to get a piece of that (I cite his multiple 15+ K games as reference).
Soriano in Wrigley.... THAT should be a sight. but leave him in left and keep derosa at 2nd. Alfonso is more effective on the outfield assist as we saw here in DC last year.
KEEP DEREK LEE HEALTHY and you will add 5 wins, and he will do it without Bonds' ego or self promotion.
Havent seen enough of Izturis to make a comment.
Aramis at 3rd was a major relief to get re-signed. I LOVE the bat. And hes solid at the corner.
Rotation
Zambrano
Prior
Wood
Hill
The other position players we can discuss after cactus league.
GO CUBBIES!!!

In order for the Cubs to make the playoffs they have to win the division. Because here will be no wild card team coming out of the central that's for sure. 87 to 88 wins should do it for the Cubs.
The cubs went 66-96 last year. Talking about a 20 game difference in wins. It can be achieved if they get off to a good start which has been a problem for them in the past.
Best of luck to you long over due Cub fans.

I think that with all of their new additions, the Cubs will win the World Series once again next year. They have a very strong bullpen and Soriano. They might go 95-67 or maybe 99-63. Anywhere between that OR more than 100. 2007 might be Chicago Cubs' lucky year.

I love Lou and yeah my Northside neighbors have some overdue fresh blood on the team, but what's yet to be proven is if it can all come together. We all know everytime the Cubs look like they're on a streak you just wait a bit longer and they fall apart. Maybe Lou can work some magic, you just never know. If he does, I say they'll win in the upper 70's. Go Sox!

To Win the Central this year you will have to Win 93 games.I believe the Baby Bears will fall short of that mark by 5-6 games,so the answer would be 88 games, good enough for 3rd place
in the Central behind St.Louis and Cinncy. It's gonna have to be 08 for the Cubbies

I say they go 95-67 and win their division. They go on to the playoffs and lose in the World Seires. I think the addition to Soriano will help drastically because in RFK stadium ( where the Nationals play ) was ranks 26th in the league for hitting; Wrigley field is ranked 4th. they will have a killer lineup with Juan Pierre 1st Soriano 2nd Derrick Lee 3rd and Aramis Rameriz 4th or 5th.

I would enjoy seeing them win about 88-92 but everything depends on all the factors working together. They fell apart when their pitching staff got hurt. If you remember they were picked in 2006 to win it all. Give them time, they are working on it.
