o.k. right? I know pg. women aren't supposed to eat any shell fish, but if the crab meat is imitation I can eat it all day everyday right? I really like it so please find a way for me to be able to eat it at least once every week or two. Thank you.

If it is real crab you can eat up to 36oz per month, if it is fake crab you can eat 12oz per month. But no you can't eat nothing but fake crab all day every day *lol* Though I know cravings. Check the ingredients on what you are buying.

LOWER MERCURY
Eat no more than six 6-oz servings per month

Carp
Mahi Mahi
Crab (dungeness)
Snapper
Crab (blue)
Herring
Crab (snow)
Monkfish
Perch (freshwater)
Skate
Cod*
Tuna (canned, chunk light)
Tuna (fresh Pacific albacore)

If it is fake crab it is pollock:
LOWEST MERCURY
Enjoy two 6-oz servings per week

Anchovies
Butterfish
Calamari (squid)
Caviar (farmed)
Crab (king)
Pollock
Catfish
Whitefish
Perch (ocean)
Scallops
Flounder
Haddock
Hake
Herring
Lobster (spiny/rock)
Shad
Sole
Crawfish/crayfish
Salmon
Shrimp
Clams
Tilapia
Oysters
Sardines
Sturgeon (farmed)
Trout (freshwater)

Everything in moderation is the key.....being mediteranean, I ate all kids of fish during both of my pregnancies and didn't have a problem, the murcury scare is actually found in big game fish like salmon, makerel, etc, and sushi containing raw fish is not considered smart either but use your judgement. Before all these rules kids turned out fine. I'm not saying don't watch, but your crab rangoon should be fine....and a great craving solution too =)

Once every week or two shouldnt be a problem.

Crab meat (king and snow) is safer for you than most fish. Things like scrod, tuna, swordfish, flounder, trout.. all these things have insanely high levels of murcury and shouldnt be eaten.

Get the chart from your doctor, and read the lable on the imitation crab meat.

last time i checked the fish in it was mostly whiting, and that pretty safe for eating a couple times a month.

You can most definately eat it! Only if it's cooked, which it is in Crab Rangoon. You can eat any seafood you'd like as long as it is cooked. And as many times as you'd like. As far as the tuna; here's the mythbuster, you CAN eat it but you are limited to one can a week. In moderation. Enjoy! Enjoy! I know I was loving seafood while pregnant! Good luck.

Most imitation crab meat is Alaskan Pollack which is a fish...but make sure by looking at the ingredients! Congratulations on your pregnancy!

There is NO REASON why pregnant women shouldn't eat shellfish. Shellfish (such as shrimp, scallops, crab, and lobster) are perfectly safe during pregnancy becaus they are LOW in methylmercury, an environmental toxin found in some large fish. Just make sure they are cooked, not raw (as in sushi).

However, women should limit their total intake of all seafood and fish to two dinner servings (12 ounces total) per week, though, to avoid getting too much methylmercury.

Fish you should *always avoid* during pregnancy due to the methylmercury content includes:

TUNA (ALBACORE IS REALLY BAD)
KING MACKEREL
SWORDFISH
SHARK
TILEFISH

There isn't enough real crab meat in crab rangoon to hurt a pregnant flea.

i wouldn't. it isnt healthy for the baby especially if you aren't completely positive about it being imitation. i think you should hold of until you aren't pregnant anymore just for your babies safety. isn't your baby's health more important than crab rangoon? imitaion or not!
