I do not appreciate you answer ogrendle. I just do a little search and check my email once in a while. It's not like I spend 8 hrs surfing the net. I always get my job done. Are you saying that people who are on here right now while at work are jerks?

Yes and No.
If your boss really minded he/she would have given you the boot by now. Just keep it clean, do your work and you should be fine.

YES!!! Anything you do on a computer at work can be seen either by your boss or you IT specialist and subject to action. The property is not yours. Larger companies actually hire people just to tap into employee's work stations to be sure they are not doing anything that could either damage the companies reputation, cause a lawsuit or distract the employee from working. Save the fun stuff for home!

I would say yes, pretty much. There is one way you can help elimate some the the traffice you have done online by going to 1)my computer 2) control panel 3)internet options 4)delete cookies 5) delete files 6)delete history 7)ok
Try and do this throughout the day and it will pretty much wipe out all the website you have gone to. If you boss really wanted to check up on you, there is always a way but it would be pretty hard.

It really depends. If you're doing something on a company computer, they could have tracking software installed on it. If it uses a proxy server, then it's likely they have logging enabled and can see who's accessing what sites, and when. Ditto for wireless routers.
The only sure way to avoid it is to not access the internet from work unless it's business-related.

Yes, since the computer you are using and the telephone line that it is connected to is "company property", he (and others who have a "need to know") has the right to monitor usage to insure that it is used for "business purposes". If you are e-mailing inappropriate material to friends/ co-workers, or misusing it in any way, you could be disciplined up to and including termination.

If you are on the company network, they can see everything and if you really want to advertise that you are engaging in illegal unauthorized activities on company time, try and block it !
That should cement your journey to the unemployment line with giant negative marks in your employment history .

If they have the right software, they can see EVERYTHING you do - and in some cases, save it. (This includes email and IMs.) There's no way to block the software either. It's the company's right to know what their employees are doing online on company time. (Those employees who have sued over this have lost.)
