In a word: yes
I play about 2 hours a day, which means it costs me about 20 cents an hour. It has endless content, good pvp, great gameplay, and great people!
The expansion is just coming out, now is the time to jump in. Send me an email, and I will send you a free 10-day trial. I will even help you out in game.
You will totally miss out if you pass this game up.
I have a wife and two children, and still make time after they are all in bed to get some "me-time". Its that good.

It depends what you're into. If you like player vs. player battle, then you may want to look into Guild Wars instead. Guild Wars only requires you pay for the game itself and has free online play, though it also has expansions to pay for the game.
World of Warcraft allows for questing and partying up with people, it's very social but may also be played alone fairly well. In my opinion, if you already have friends to play with then it's definitely worth your time and money. If you plan on playing alone or trying to make friends in game then you should try the 14 day trial first. It can get pretty frustrating and repeitive at times.

I suppose it depends on what you like. I have found it a blast and have wasted many many hours playing it. My kids love it two.
It is not an arcade game. You don't need to have great eye-hand coordination or keyboard skills to play it.
It is an interactive fantasy RPG type game. It is easy to play, but can be frustrating at times. Anytime you interact with people anonymously their are always a few people who take advantage of the complete anonymity to be complete jerks. On the other hand most people are quite helpful and friendly.
I don't have much to compare it too. I never have played other on-line games other than Yahoo board games and Diablo. Never played Evercrack etc.

Ive been playing since it came out (for 2 years now) and I LOVE It. The expansion for the game is coming out soon and its well worth to check it out.

This late in the game... no. Look into Vangaurd : Saga of heroes. It's not cartoony and is more for the casual gamer. look it up at
