Global warming is a natural process that the earth has been going through for millions of years.
If there is one thing groups of people don't like, it is things that they can't understand/control(IE a lot of our religious wars, salem burnings and etc.) So, yes, I think in general we do blame ourselves to try to give ourselves that comfort of thinking that we have so much control over our surroundings.
We are not doomed. The polar icecaps will melt, fresh water will dilute the oceans and change the currents..Weather will get very extreme..And finally, the polar icecaps will instantaneously freeze over in a new location. It definatly wont wipe out the entire human race. It enforces survival of the fittest if anything!

You have just asked one of the major questions in the book "The Ingenuity Gap" by Thomas Homer Dixon. There is definitely a human factor in our weather, but it is really hard to say whether we can do anything to change things... There isn't really an equilibrium for nature.
Take the population of rabbits and coyotes... If there are a lot of rabbits, the coyotes will thrive, and increase in numbers, but that means ultimately they will cause the rabbits to be sparse. This in turn will cause starvation of the coyotes, and only the strong will survive, (the same applies for the rabbits, when they start to thin in population). When the coyotes thin out, the rabbits will thrive again because there aren't as many predators.
I know you were asking about the weather, but this constant flux applies to everything in nature, including the weather. We should however start taking precautions as to how we treat the Earth. The weather relies on water currents. These currents need a certain mix of water, and salt. Without the proper mix the flow of water is lost... This can happen from the dilution of the water from the polar ice caps. The ice caps have been melting dew to holes in the Ozone. There is speculation that we could coat the atmosphere with chemicals that would replace the effect that our Ozone does, but scientists aren't sure what the down side effects would be.

Wow Iqstrike... you REALLY don't know what your talking about, nor what you are dealing with...
Well put Goddess... But I still think we should take better care of our surroundings.

Well, natural changes in climate usually come about very slowly. Things that affect swift changes are: volcanic eruptions, oil spills, earthquakes, smog...etc. I have a riverfront property the level of the water during the winter months is typically 35 ft. The average so far this winter is 23 ft. It was like this last year too, way below average. And scientists are talking about the holes in the ozone layer - getting bigger, the ice caps are melting so the oceans are rising. Yes there is something we can do, but will the large car manufactures, energy manufactures let us do it? Will they build the cars that don't pollute,? Will gas become a third rate energy?

It may be changing simply due to nature with only a small influence by ourselves. However big money (government in particular) won't be able to control populations via laws and taxes using this subject if people realise this.
To further confuse the arguement there are things that we are doing that is dangerous and completely destroying parts of the Earth.
So bullshit pie is going to be served to us all, and we'll have to swallow it. Recipe for bullshit pie-1 part truth, 1 part lies, 1 a grey mixture of both with plenty of conflation, fear, guilt and only a hint of vague hope (control factor). Mix it up properly, layer it with plenty of statistics, distorted numbers, facts and perhaps some hysterical emotional buttons (usually poor people etc) and serve it.
Dont' forget that fear, guilt, the big bad wolf (wolves) and big brother/authority are always used to control large groups/populations. That ain't just a conspiracy thing, it's obvious if you look at it. Whats' worse, with the global climate change "baddy", you do have some truths for the bullshit pie. We cutting down rainforests, poisoning rivers, seas and the air with much worse than co2. Killing other intelligent mammals and leaching the sea stocks. So as ever the truth isn't nice and simple, meaning we do have to do something and sadly we WILL be guilt manipulated (and fear manipulated) into making various people lots of money whilst having less freedom to do this.

Using the "big bang" is a poor reference for time analysis and climate change. Its not even geologically relevant. Climate patterns especially prevalent currents are somewhat dependent on geology and shifting of continents. Watching the planetary cycles in CO2 and temp over say the last 600,000 years is a good time reference to start. It is pretty much a certainty (at least 99 percent of reputable and peer reviewed scientists agree) that the current trends in atmospheric CO2 will lead, indeed have already committed us, to a certain rise in temp.

If you look at global temperature charts, as the one listed below, you'll see that the earth's temp has only risen one degree in the last 1000 years. But the "Chicken Little's" of the world keep saying that we're doomed... it's just not true. Look it up for yourself and be informed. Hope that helps.

We are not doomed. There is nothing we can do about climate change. I actually like global warming. I live in Southwestern PA. Two days away from winter and no snow so far. Temps in the low 60's in December are a blessing. My natural gas utility bill is lower than October's bill.

Yes, since we are the ones in charge of the unnatural part of the changing- we have the ability to change what OUR effects are. yes, there has been a flux in temperature and other climatic effects and will be forever--as you said, its always changing, but human use of resources is damaging the cycle that we depend on for our survival. Americans must accept responsibility for the lion share of this effect and take action now, while we still have the ability to react.

This is a typical trick of the people who practice mind control. They make the debate over whether global warming is happening, but really it should be, "What is wrong with global warming?" It will free up wasted fresh water and fertile soil. We should terraform the earth. The balance of nature is not in Man's favor. Treating nature as if it were supernatural is the creed of savages. Nature is the enemy of Man, and it must become the slave of Mankind.

Yeah, we're pretty much doomed anyway. All of the crap we do to destroy the environment will be recycled by the planet and probably destroy us in the process. It's the natural cycle of things.
