Yes, the others have stated Switzerland is the neutral country. They were neutral during WW2. What they failed to mention is that Iceland is, also. You never hear about Iceland taking up arms against any seafaring marauders, now do you!?
They have no military, but they did house a U.S. military base for about 50 years. They are a member of NATO, but they can't exactly fight anyone. What would they do if the Russians invaded them? Maybe throw some fish at them?
I checked out a couple of websites with military info on them and came across these interesting facts - Switzerland spent $2.548 billion on its military. If they are neutral, then why do they need a military? There is no need to fight of defend, if you aren't going to declare a side in any type of conflict. On the other hand, Iceland spent $0 on any military, thus proving they have no military, thus proving they are neutral.
So as I previously stated, Iceland is the neutral country of Europe. They are a member of NATO, and trying, last I heard, to gain full membership into the EU, which already recognizes their neutrality.

Switzerland. Every able bodied adult there is given military defense training and issued their own weapon. This means the entire population can mobilize at a moments notice to defend themselves. This gives pause to any who might consider invading, and makes it seem a very secure place.
That has the added benefit of making people willing to invest in their financial institutions.

Mainly because they have an armed citizenry. Even automatic weapons.
