Honey, Christmas is the reason that it is the busiest time of the year. Think about it. If it were in June, we would still be running around like crazy people trying to find the "perfect" gifts.

Christmas was set in 325 a.d. by Emporer Constantine to counter the 12/21 pagan debauchery of Winter Solstice. Many of our Christmas customs come from the pagan feast cf. greens etc. Since the local department stores have had displays up since October, maybe we could move things to October and ave all the build-up and markdowns?

Ha ha ha...of course no matter what time of year it was, it would be busy because of the holiday!!
Besides, would you want Christmas in summer, when everyone's away on vacation?
I know they have Christmas in summer in the S. Hemisphere, it must be rotten to have to spend on Christmas AND your summer vacation at the same time!
