I personally have never gained any weight while taking birth-control pills. However, I have heard this alot. I think the key to keeping the weight off is finding the pill that is right for you, diet and exercise. Our nurse practitioner recommends taking O'Tricyclene. She has said it is the best for NOT causing weight gain. I do not have factual evidence of this, but it is a statement coming from a health care provider, who may have evicdence of this herself. I have never taken this OCP. I take Trinessa which has a fluctuating amount of hormones in it throughout the month. It is supposed to be more like your body's natural hormone release. I have never had problems with weight gain on this pill. You should talk to your doctor and together decide which pill is right for you. More than likely they will want to start you out on a low (hormone) dose pill at first to see if that will work.
As far as being a virgin, if you have ever worn tampons you will be okay. They will talk to you about everything before the examinations, but make sure that you make them aware that your haven't been sexually active. Hope I have been of some help.

Birth control pills should not be taken only when you feel like it; they have to be taken consistently to prevent pregnancy and shorten your period. While birth control can cause weight gain, its more likely due to bloating and its only a few pounds. Just as many girls say they dont gain weight or lose it than do. Its not likely that a girl would gain a lot of weight from the pills, unless they had a major increase in appetite and consequently change in diet....I personally think birth control should be used to prevent pregnancy rather than mess with nature/period but if its really bothering you, a gyno can help get you on the right medication.

Pills will help the cramps a lot. I think the type of pill will just depend on how you react to it. Usually they'll set you up on one and if you have problems on it you can go back and request to try something else. I never noticed any of the pills I tried made me gain much weight, only the shot did. The pill also cleared up my acne and made my boobs a bit bigger :).
The exam may hurt depending on how gentle they are, but if you tell them upfront that you are a virgin, perhaps they'll be more careful. More than anything it's uncomforable.
Hop this helps.

The birth control pills themselves don't make you gain weight, but they can increase your appetite, so if you eat crap food then you will gain weight. The hormones also change where on your body the fat is deposited, shifting it to your boobs, butt and thighs - more visible areas. Basically, if you weren't doing anything to make youself gain weight before you started taking the pill, if you carry on the same way, you won't gain weight because of the pill.
