13. This is generally for residential homes (although the 'thirteenth' step is the top landing) and may be different if there are intermediate landings or inside public buildings with higher than average ceilings.

There is no "typical" flight of stairs. It depends on the length of the room and the rise in feet from one floor to the next. Most building codes call for stairs to be no more than 7" in height. That means to rise 8 feet, you'd need 13 stairs.

A flight is 10' so there will be 9 steps plus the landing. Most steps are spaced 9" apart.

usually There are 12 due to old 13th superstitions.but what really matters is your rise vs. your run(you height compared to your length & whether you include a landing or not
