Like if you are robbed in new york city where they don't allow guns. If you had a gun then you could protect yourself.

Do you know how to "protect yourself" with a gun? And without the person breaking in or trying to rob you taking your gun away from you and using it on you? I am totally for gun control but believe education is just as important as the piece of metal. There are other ways of protecting yourself, what about pepper spray or a taser? Take Karate or self defense.

No you can't sue the city, but you can challenge the law which prevents you owning a gun.

NYC allows guns. I have a NYC pistol permit. NYC permit allows you to carry throughout the state, whereas a NY state permit requires a 'rider' to carry in NYC's 5 boroughs.

Oh, and to Ms. Karate down there....You're a fool. I really hope you never find yourself in a position where someone is trying to kill you, but I'm pretty sure than when a guy wants to kill you, a bullet is a better defense than a karate chop. Welcome to the real world honey. Now grow up.

Gun Control is citizen control. Nothing more!

I'm not familiar with the laws in NY, but maybe you can apply for a concealed gun permit....if you have a clean criminal record. It should be ok for you to have a gun in your house, maybe not on your person, but inside......again, as long as you're not a convicted felon. Best of luck to you......
