I had a job interview on Thursday and they said they would call this week to tell me if I get the second interview. How long should I wait to call them?

straly,
congrats on the interview, now go out and get more interviews don't wait . you'll starve.
todays market goes to the one willing to go out and kill something to bring home to eat.
should they call you back great, just don't wait.
as for calling them back - do so only if (a big IF) the job is something you would die for.
it is just a job.

I would wait 5 to 8 days then I would call and ask if they have had time to consider your application, I've done it and have gotten jobs that way. But now that I am not doing that kind of work anymore and I am in the medical field it is best to just keep faxing out as many resumes as possible and wait until they call you and usually your resume' will end up in the hands of an employer who is looking for your skills.

Wait until next week, at least. When I am conducting interviews, I find it very annoying when the canidates call and bug me. I once didn't hire someone just becuase she was so irritating.

However, I do find it quite professional when I recieve a thank you card for the interview.

If it's a really hot job that you had great conversations with, and you're totally feeling the natural chemistry, it's okay to call the next day. If the job is as into you as you are into it, it will be happy to hear from you. If the job seems great but might be playing a little hard-to-get, give it a few days... you don't want to frustrate the job or yourself.

Wait the week out to see if they call first. If they don't call within the time period in which they suggested they would call, then call them up :)

If they haven't called since last Thursday, you should call tomorrow morning.

3-4 days...I wouldn't call just because they said they would call you to tell you. If they haven't called, it's for a reason. Sorry...
