Ok so I download pictures from iconator.com and then i use them for my webpage, just for show. I even stated that most of them aren't mine, that i get them from iconator.com. Is that stealing?

the thing im seeing here is if someone DIDN'T want u to use there icons/avatars then why put them on iconator.com? People do download them

If they specifically say their pictures are copyrighted and not for public use then YES. If there is no mention of any copyrights or permission needed then NO. It would be like leaving money on the sidewalk and saying the person that took it was stealing.

Unless it indicated that you are not permitted to re-produce any part or they don't request that you get their permission, you should be OK to download the pictures. You were very kind to indicate where you got the info from, some people wouldn't even bother to have done that.

If the pictures are copyrighted by inconator.com they will say so on their web site.
If they are copyrighted, it is considered stealing until you get written permission from iconator.com to use the pictures. They usually want to know where you will be using them and know what content they will be associated with.

No, iconator have an faq that shows they expect people to download and use their icons. Good for you for thanking them.

Well it depends are the pictures protected on the web site to they have a copyright. If not they probably stole them themselves

Do they belong to you? Do you have permission to use them from the owner? If you can't answer YES to both questions, then it is stealing.

no. even not posting where u got them isnt stealing. As long as you take no credit whatsoever, its not technically stealing.

It's like a research paper, you give credit for the author
so for your situation your giving credit to iconator.com, so no it's not. hope this answers your question :o)
