I was given a SUPER COMFORTABLE couch that was owned by two sweet old ladies. One of them was a smoker. I plan on buying a couch cover to match my homes decor. However, the couch set smells horrible. I steam cleaned it, and sprayed febreeze on it. But the next day the odor was back, not as strong, but it didn't completely go away. I need to do something to take the odor out. Any suggestions ???

I agree with everyone who's suggested having it professionally cleaned. If you need to cover the odor until you can have that done, try getting one of those "smoker's candles." My aunt smoked like a chimney in her house, and those really helped minimize the odor.

I had to deep clean my furniture when my son was diagnosed with asthma. I had to take the covers off the cushions and clean them. I took one nice weekend and sat my couch out side for it just to air out. Look in the area near carpet cleaner and there should be some arm and hammer powder for removing smoke in carpets. Use it on the couch. Just sprinkle it and vaccuum up. Smoke settles deep so it make take a few good cleanings to get the smell completely out.

Have a company that celans carpets come over & clean it. Its not expensive at all. That about the only way you will get all the odors out - you need to have it professionally cleaned.

Good luck!

After cleaning, try putting several dryer sheets under the cushions.
It's going to take a while. Fresh air is best.
Good luck.

If you don't want to spend the money to have it professionally cleaned....just keep Febreezing it daily...eventually the smell will subside. I stopped smoked a few years ago...took a while for the smell to be gone from my house..but, if you keep "freshening" it....the smell will go away.
