I don't either. I'm pefectly happy with Mary, Josef and Jesus just the way they are. Gay marriage is seperate from the Nativity. Blessings, my Dear One.

The beauty of this country is that we have freedom of religion, freedom of speech. There are always going to be people who are offended about anything and everything. You can't please everyone. If I want a black Mary and Joseph in my front yard-that's my right. If I want two Josephs and no Mary in my nativity scene-that is my right. If you have an opinion, I can have one too. If you don't like it- don't look at it. If you don't believe in it then don't. Gay marriage-why not. No better or worse than any other couples on the planet. The Universe will unfold a it should-whether you have an opinion or not.

I can give you a non homosexual opinion. I think this was a totally lame way to make a point, and actually serves to perpetuate a negative stereotype. They had their gay couples embracing on the ground in a nativity scene. The assumption is that the gays are only defined by their having sex all the time. The display would have been more effective and appropriate had the couples been simply standing together.

It's just four dolls. Get a grip. People make fun of other people's religions (and everything else) all the time. If a religious person can't recognize this as human nature, they need to learn to laugh at themselves a bit.
If the religious zealots claim "marriage" as their own, then perhaps I can claim "handshakes", "language" and "air" as my own.
1) Separation of religion and government is a good thing. The scene should not be in a government building unless scenes from all relgions are represented (not really possible).
2) Changing the relgious scene is not appropriate, unless perhaps the 'gay' dolls were just onlookers. The main actors of the scene should remain.

And the nativity has what to do with allowing gay marriage?
Read up on your history. The institution of marriage between a man and a woman has had many forms over the centuries and even today is different between different cultures.
There are also cultures who have recognized that same sex feelings exist whether they acknowledge it or not.
If one culture allows people to handfast and another must have a license they pay big bucks for and another says if the shaman blesses you, then what is the issue with allowing for the intelligence to recognize that people deserve to be together as a family the way they wish.

ps. besides if you read it correctly, Joseph had nothing to do with the conception so what kind of example is that for traditional "marriage"?

Come on, I'm sure God's up there laughing his Eternal butt off!! If you don't have a sence of humor, what good is life?
I'm sure it wasn't meant to "change history" as much as it was to wake up those who simply can't evolve past their hatred of those who are different.
Besides, why have a nativity anyway? If you think about it, it only glorifies rape! Joseph wasn't Jesus' father, Mary was raped! and by God no less! What kind of a God does that?
What kind of a God puts one of his own children in that kind of a position? What kind of a God rapes his own creation, making her have to prove that she's still a virgin and go through what must have been Hell on Earth?
Why couldn't she have given birth in her own hometown? Because no one believed her!
Why would God do that?
Come on....its a bit far fetched even for me!

Gay marriage should not be about whether you are morally or religeously for it. It's about equal rights for all human beings. And separating out your bible based beliefs from the political landscape that keeps us free and happy. Separation of church and state is btw, what this country was founded on. This article is a little confusing and I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish with the dolls. But people have tried all kinds of manners of expression to be heard about a variety of equality stuggles. I say...next. Let's keep the good fight up for equal rights.

Ok, if they can take away "In God We Trust" and the Bible from being at the court houses. Why can't we let them have the gay marriages. The government is taking away what America stood for from the being and changing it, so let all the changes happen. Not just for certain people!!!
