it's sad that it has to be this way. personally, i think they're closed minded because deep down they know that if they opened their minds, then they would have to admit that they've based their whole lives on a book of fiction. it's the classic story of sticking your head in the sand, for some reason they think that if they don't allow themselves to be exposed to other belief structures, then that somehow validates their own points of view. it's sad.

I read the questions as well as the answers (with ratings) and feels it could have been misconstruded. I noticed that the answers that got the most negative ratings where the ones that put more than just a "yes" or a "no", but then again there are a lot of closed minded people out there in society today, Christian or not Christian.
I myself am a Christian, but find myself to be very open minded. For example, I do believe that homosexuality is a sin in the eyes of the Lord, but I also believe that in America, we are entitled to certain rights so Gays should be able to marry. Another example, I am personally against abortion and feel it is a sin to kill in unborn child, but again, feel that every situation is different and that women are faced with different choices when put in unusual circumstances so abortion should be fully legal.
You see, it all depends on the person. I hope that helps you understand a little. It's so sad to be a Christian and labeled as "close-minded" by so many. Jesus never judge anyone. He taugh what he could and what he knew, and he loved equally. It's those that are close-minded and pre-judgemental that give us open-minded Christians a bad name.

Seems so. Actually, I wouldn't put too much weight on the thumbs down thing. There are some people that give a thumbs down for every answer, like pushing all the buttons on an elevator. These would be the 9 1/2 years olds . . .

You know, Ive found the same thing with my parents, oddly enough...
my family is all Christian, including myself, and I find that my parents seem more programmed (not exactly the word im looking for) and tend to look at things only one way. I think its different for younger Christians though, all my friends and I are more open to new ideas and ways of life.
I thinks its just the way they were brought up. I know they went to Christian schools as children, so that may be a factor.

I agree, I just got thumbs down for saying I don't pray. I'm not a Christian but I do believe in God. I also respect everyone elses beliefs but apparantly not many people are respectful these days. It's their way, or no way, and any other way against theirs is unacceptable. But, not all Christians are like that, as well as other religions.
Much Love.

Yes and no. Anyone can call themselves a Christian, but it doesn't always mean the same thing. Some people call themselves Christians and then forget to ACTUALLY ACT LIKE ONE and give true Christians a really bad name.

Yes, I think so. I am a christian, but very liberal. Some christians take it way too far. To the point of being legalistic. Sad but true. I am sure that I will get alot of thumbs down. Oh well, ask me if I care? No .|!

First let me start by saying, I believe in Jesus. I don't claim to be a saint because I have sin in my life. i don't want to be accused of being a hypocrite! However, I don't think that is a good way to show the love of Jesus Christ. We are supposed to be a light to the world. People who act like that are a lot of the reason that people like you (non believers) don't want to be a Christian.
There were some really rude answers on there for such an innocent question though!

The thumbs down I want to believe that they are from non-Christians, It would be ridiculous for a Christian to consider it wrong for someone not to be a Christian, that is not the teaching of Christianity.
