Many things but yet they could be explained away by something else. An allergic reaction could cause the baby to vomit, break out, cry a lot, draw his/her knees up due to stomach pain, etc. Anything like that could also be signs of something else like colic, intolerability to lactose, etc. I'd talk with the doctor as soon as you can - especially depending on the age of the baby.

When my nephew was allergic to the formula that he was on he threw it up everytime he ate. He would eat and then five to ten minutes later up everything would come. We were always ready with a towel. (I started putting towels in the diaper bag.) We talked to the doctor and he was allergic to all the kinds of formula that we could buy off of the shelf. The doctor ended up having to prescribe some formula and we got it special ordered from a pharmacy. It was a pain and very expensive (wic helped a lot) but he wasn't allergic to it and he finally started gaining weight.

If the baby is throwing it up or not gaining weight or spitting most of it up...if you have questions I recommend going to the doctor and finding out. That will give you peace of mind. I would rather be at the doctor's to much then not enough. Believe me my baby doctors know that. Good Luck. Hope you find something that works for your baby.

There are lots of symptoms:

Constant inconsolable crying, especially at feedings or immediately after

Excessive spit-up

Rash

Gassiness

Diarrhea

These are the main things that signal a problem, but it's tricky to figure out what the problem is, some babies do fine once switched to soy formula, others are allergic to milk AND soy (like mine) and need to be on hypo-allergenic lactose-free formula such as Alimentum or Nutramigen. Your Dr. may be your best resource in helping you determine what the best route is for you and your baby :)

my little girl has a milk allergy. She was so gassy, and it seemed like she was in extreme pain. She screamed and fussed when she popped. Actually she screamed all the time. If she was not sleeping she was screaming. It was terrible. We tried everything, Good Start with "comfort proteins" etc. Nothing worked til we switched her to a soy based formula. Almost immediately she changed. There were actually times when she was happy. She has now been on soy for about a month and a half and I could not have asked for a happier baby. No more gas pain, no more screaming. She is now so happy and so am I.

Sometimes it's hard to tell. make sure that they are gaining weight. Is your child constantly vomiting after feedings? Check with your pediatrician. If so, there are many options for you to try. My oldest daughter was allergic to formula, then we found goat's milk. It worked wonders for her. Now she's a thriving 7 yr old. voice your concerns with your pediatrician and work with the Dr. till you can find the solution. Good Luck :)

My son was allergic to the similac with iron, he started getting little dry patches on his face and behind his ears, so we switched to soy and the dryness went away...Unfortunately he was also allergic to the soy and I knew that because it made his poopys very acidy and he got a horrible horrible diaper rash and then got constipated...so now we only use Alimentum made by similac it costs twice the price for one can but no more allergies

It can be hard to tell. Spitting up a lot, crying during feeding, blood in stool, gassy...these are common symptoms. If you are noticing these, I would try a soy-based or lactose free formula, or you can talk to your dr.

spitting up, gassy, blood in stool, fussy any or all of the above. There are lots of different formulas. He or she might do better on one without lactose or a soy based one. Check with your doctor for guidance.

My son used to throw up and have diarrea at the same time. Hey got really dehydrated and ended up in the hospital. Talk to the pediatrician and see if you can get the proper tests done. Also go with your instinct. I had to change doctors 5x's and finally got results.
