Right-handers and left-handers can use the same mouse! it doesn't make a difference.

If the shape of the mouse is symmetrical, there is a setting in the Control Panel (in WinXP) that switches the function of the right and left clicks.

I'm a lefty but use the mouse with my right hand so if I have to write anything down my left hand is free.

You can just use the mouse on the other side of the computer.. and in the setup area of Windows you can switch the right-click and left-click.. so they are then set up for a lefty.

they make left handed roller ball type mice, but with a regular mouse, you can just go to the control panel and change the options so that its works for your left hand..

They do, but like many other left-handed tools (like good scissors!) they are hard to track down. If you google for left-handed ergonomic mice some will come up.
As a left-handed person, though, I just mouse with my right hand so that I can take notes with my left at the same time.

Not really but you can set your mouse to reverse the buttons so that the right is the left and left is right.
