I'm not a scrooge, I love Christmas, but I couldn't face Christmas without my family and the question is IF you had to spend it on your own...........

At least you can make your own dinner this year and have it when you want to.Hope you never have to go back to that way again.

been there done that... spent my 16th Christmas eve in a pile of boxes behind a dept store... ate Christmas dinner at a shelter then back to the cardboard... rained and then froze... not fun time
.... probably will be solo this year as all family out of town... might just use up my answer quota on YA.... play solitare on the PC... will do some extra Bible study time.... small town so every thing will be closed...already stocked up on what will need in the way of eats and drink... good time to spend some time with God

I am spending Christmas day on my own. Because my entire family all ready celebrated it this past weekend. I am coming back from my Grandfathers that morning and then going to see a movie. Then spending the night with my boyfriend. Nothing special.

I would make myself a really good breakfast! Then I would go see a movie in the afternoon. After the movie I would go on a long walk with my dog and look at all the pretty Christmas lights. Then I would order take out Chinese food, build a fire in my fireplace, eat my Chinese food and watch a flick on TV. Then I would go to bed early and be really rested for the next day!!!!!:)

Not too sure as thankfully (fingers crossed) that has never happened yet..
I think i would buy some good bottles of champagne, and then rather than the traditional roast turkey dinner i would have a chicken madras, pilau rice and a few poppadoms, and then gorge myself on chocolate and pringles watching christmas telly or chrsitmas themed dvds.

Well to get me thinking. Lets see. I would sleep in and lounge in bed watching Christmas related tv/movies all day (or listen to Christmas music). I would be eating cookies and cocoa for breakfast. I am sure I would unwrap the presents I bought for myself. I would play with my cat and to wrap it all up, I would make a huge Family style Christmas dinner and eat it myself and have tons of left overs.

I'm alone at Christmas and I love it!!! After bringing up a family of five on my own I deserve a bit of peace. My dog and I will be sharing Christmas dinner and it's going to be a lovely day!!!

I am going to.
I will get up lateish for me (about 8.30)
Take the pups for their first walk.
Have a shower and some breakfast.
Then off to Derwentwater for a stroll around the lake, with my prepacked turkey sandwich lunch and flask of tea laced with whisky.
Back home about three pm.
Start to cook my gosht bhuna, with pilau rice, naan bread and chana massala.
Eat the bhuna, then watch my Chrimbo dvd, House series two.
Toddle down the road with the dogs again about ten for their last walk.
Hit the charp, after a nightcap of chilled kummel.
Bliss.

I think I might sleep more as you would. Prolly try to find a place to volunteer for Christmas and Boxing day, so I would have a little human contact, and finally, think of those who have it less happy than my own circumstances. Something we should all do anyway.
But, I do, as you, have family and friends who gather round, and in that, beyond presents, beyond the carols, beyond all, the sharing of love and happiness, that means much.
I also, no matter what, remember my darling mum, her smile and love for all of us.
Have a wickedly happy Christmas, one and all, and for those who are alone, a special Christmas wish--that a thought, a phone call, something will happen to make your day a little brighter.
Peace,
The Cheeky Lad

I think I would pig out, then take a nice long quiet bath, read a book, take a walk, say happy holidays to all I meet, then I would end the day by saying thank you (to whatever god you believe in) for my special day of alone time. I don't get that often with 5 kids so I guess for me it would be different.

I would find a good charity and give my time to that. I am sure there are some soup kitchens that could use some help or maybe a hospital could use a santa's helper. If you can't be with your family do something to make somebody's holiday brighter, it will help your spirits too!
