Well i've heard that it doesn't work, but i have a friend who uses it and she says that you have to use it constantly for awhile to start having results. so for the people who think it doesn't work, i think that you're not using it right or your not being patient enough.

Yes, the toner is necessary. If you read the instructions, it says that acne has three stages, and each of the three basic products (facial wash, toner, and repairing lotion) address one of the stages. I always wonder when someone says ProActive doesn't work for them if they are using it correctly. The Refining Mask is an extra--it's nice for your forehead, nose and chin to keep pores extra clean and small. The other three products are mandatory! The instructions say to use all three of the products each time. You can use them once a day (morning or evening), or once a week--whatever gets you the best results. Since everyone's face is different, you have to see how often you need to use the product line to get your skin clean and keep it clear. There's not a magic number that works for everyone. If your skin starts to look red or irritated, then you're using the product line too often. Use the line less often, then, but use all three products if you use any of them, or you will not get the results. It's call COMBINATION THERAPY for a reason. A combination of treatments that work together. ProActive didn't invent this kind of treatment--it's been in the dermatological literature for several years--but ProActive is the best product line out there for using this combination idea. There's not "amount" like if you use more it will work better, etc. Just use what you need to get the job done. Use the mask. Then use the cleanser. Then dry your face and use the toner. Then when that dries, use the repairing lotion. It's pretty simple. It's a PROCESS of getting your skin clean. You used it Friday and got okay results? What does that mean? Nobody's face clears up from using something once! Keep using it and figure out what works for you, but use the products properly, according to the directions, or you will have wasted your money.

If anything has worked really well its proactive. But it takes a few weeks. Personally I would only suggest it to someone with a lot of acne not a pimple showing up evernow and then. Another downside is price, its like $30 a month! So if you have a few pimples here and there every once in awhile I suggest neutergena, and witch hazel. THose two work very well for your average zits.

I used it for a few weeks and didn't see much change except that my skin got all dried out and flaky which I can't stand. I used it just as was instructed. I don't know. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance, but it's too pricey to just keep buying if it does not work.

I think it does really work; it just takes a few weeks. However, the cleanser is not particularly good at removing makeup, especially mascara, so I need to keep a second face soap on hand.
