If I say that Australia has produced some of the finest crickets ever (Don Bradman, Shane Warne, Steve Waugh, etc) I would be stating a fact. If I said that some of the best athletes in the world have been black (Moh Ali, Pele, Viv Richards, Brian Lara, Linford Christie, etc) I would be stating a fact. If I said that Brasil produces the best footballers as they have won more World cups then anyone else, I would be stating a fact.

But if I said that most muggers in London (and probably elsewhere) are mainly young black males I would be generalising and would be called a racsist. Is this hypocrisy?

I have been mugged by blacks ( for my phone), so has my mother ( twice, once for her handbag once for her gold chain), aunt (handbag), grandmother (handbag), cousin (golf clubs), uncle ( for money and was also viciously beaten by them), and many friends. Every mugging has been commited by black youths and never anyone else.

In these days of political correctness gone wrong where reverse racism rules, I am afraid that I would have to agree with you

Well in regards to generalizations, you have to consider, all the that you stated above, are statistics, you have Pele's stats, the cricket players stats, but that doesn't make them true.

A generalization is a broad statement or belief based on a limited number of facts.

Assuming that muggers in London (and probably elsewhere) are mainly young black males, is poppycock. You are not using facts, and that would involve looking at demographics, income levels in area with crimes commited by young black males, and compared to that of other mugger of different ethnicity. That's a lot of work to put in and so usually we get the less scienitific and more visual and news paper clipping conclusions also known as genralizations.

A genralization in itself is a hipocrasy..it's imitating a fact.
I hope you were truly posing a intellectual thought, and no trying to be ignorant.
Good luck

I was volunteering with a group for girls who felt they had been raped and molested, out of 20 at least 18 said their attacker was white..so Is it safe for me to assume that all rapists are white.. ?

What your saying is absolutely ridiculous so ten people you now or less have been mugged by black people, and it's unfortunate and I apologize but...

Big deal. You and your family.. don't count for the whole english population

White people have been mugging black people for 1000 of years..we just don't get news coverage. Genralization or fact?

Don Bradman was human, not a cricket.

You would be right in thinking that UK police target young Black males more than any one else thus hyping up the statistics.
