the context was like, i was describing to a friend tht am lookign for a guy who is quite elder to me,as i think elder guys r more emotionally warm than younger guys.so then this friend who is a young man told me....."get ur basics right,and you would get a guy"...i want to know wht the word BASIC means in thsi context

It means "get your priorities straight". Age and your comment about what you want to find and why is wrong. A person who is more emotional is a character trait, not an age thing. Usually guys get less emotional over time as they harden. Take it from a over 40 guy.
