I didn't serve in Nam, I stayed in the States during my 2 year hitch, and would presently have trouble being a tourist where so many of my friends died or got injured.

I am a Vietnam Vet and have returned to Vietnam 5 times since 1996. I also am now married to a Vietnamese. My lovely wife, daughter and I will be returning again in June to spend our summer vacations with our relatives and friends in Saigon and in Hue. Go and enjoy yourself. People are fantasic and the food is too. So much to see and do. cheers

Sir, by all means, go. I was a Green Beret there for a couple of tours in the 60s, and have been back twice since 2001. It's a beautiful and exciting country with hospitable and energetic people. It will be a trip you'll remember. There is little or no animosity toward Americans. In fact, I drank beer for hours with a couple of old VC officers, and they bought more rounds (25 cents a beer) than I did. Go now, stay out of the new business hotels, and you'll find the only big expense is getting there.
