I had swelling after the first trimester initially in one leg and foot only (doctor said the baby was positioned to one side). Hang in there and buy some sneakers a size bigger! Watch the sodium intake, too.
My fingers swelled so much a ring that normally fit my thumb wouldn't fit my pinky. At the end I could only wear shower flip-flops and my toes were splayed out. They had to cut the slipper socks they give you in the hospital to fit me.
The good news? It goes away immediately and you'll have a good laugh about it. My boyfriend still teases me about my "man hands" and my horrifying feet!

Well since youve asked your doc it probably is normal for you. Ive been pregnant 3 times and had a scare of preclamsia with my daughter. Sometimes severe swelling can be a sign and also high blood pressure. Since ur only 28 weeks im assuming you havent been to the doc that frequently yet so maybe you should go and just get your pressure checked just to be sure. When you have concerns most docs dont mind making a quick appointment to check it out. Im no doc but i have had pregnancy problems so i never write anything off untill im absolutely sure. So i hope this helps and hope you give ur doc a call

Has your doctor ever told you to stop eating salt and start drinking cranberry juice to help aleviate some of the swelling? It could be a sign of toxemia. It is a common problem in pregnancy that can be harmful to the baby. I don't want to alarm you but you might ask because I had that at 3 months and had to give up all sodium for the next six months-this included sodas too, because they contain lots of sodium.

I'm only starting to swell lately, and I'm 38wks. Not too bad though, just in the evenings. Is your blood pressure low? I'm also smaller than you look in your picture, you're pretty pregnant looking already for 28wks!!!!! Big baby! Maybe you're just retaining a lot of water, watch your salt intake and the goodies!! And you should be excercising a little too, that will help with the swelling and maybe the weight!

Yes, it is very normal. I actually started swelling around 18-20 weeks. Are you drinking LOTS of water? Be sure to do that as much as you can and keep your blatter empty. It helped my swelling a lot. Be sure that he keeps an eye on your swelling, though.

I started swelling at around that time too. My doctor encouraged me to drink more water and that helped a little bit.

Every pregnancy is unique. I had twins and didn't have any swelling until the last couple of weeks. I carried them full term and they came on their due date :) Watch the sodium.

Ya thats normal. Try to reduce your salt intake. It makes you retain water. And, drink lots of water, it makes you pee out all the water you are retaining. And, try not to sit for too long.
