Hi there. The answer is, that these are people whose only qualification for governing is having spent their entire life inside the political system, schmoozing their local power brokers at conferences etc. to get nominations. They have never had to have a real job except in odd cases, being an MP is a reward for living an extremely closed life and sucking up to like minded individuals. My local MP studied politics at uni, joined Labour as a researcher and was eventually foisted onto my constituency (not being local). So this woman, who has no experience of the real world and has never done a real days work in her life, now pontificates how I should live and takes half of my earnings as tax and spends it on my behalf.
This looks likea rant, sorry, but the point is serious. The only skills MPs have are sucking up ad playing the politics game, naturally you canot expect them to have the vaguest idea of anything else.
Regards, Steve.

Whatever the case, however high our taxes, however silly our health and safety and political correctness is and however greedy our chancellor...we still have it sooooooooooo much better than soooooooooooo many other places, and for that we should be grateful. We can work towards a better future by standing up for what we believe in. This is the only way to get somewhere in this world, to make sure our voice is heard and not drowned out. People will be people, they will abuse power and be corrupted by money. Unfortunately, no-one is perfect. Let's just be grateful that we live in a stable, secure country with support for everyone and a free health service-no matter how bad it is, it's still there.

Not so much ignorant than weak.
They daren't sort out immigration because it would upset the EU, They did go to Iraq because President Bush asked them to (he wanted oil),
Won't cut carbon emissions much because it would upset the big businesses keeping the economy rolling
Schools are in a bad state because the MP's get £50 000+ a year
Taxes go up for the same reason as above.
There you go, they're too weak and so the country has no backbone.

Look at the politicians that make up the government - their statesmanship qualities, their knowledge & their achivements in 3 parliaments (terms in office).
A flock of sheep has more direction.
The answer to your question is we have a group of low intelect, mediocer politicians with no vision.

Because they realise that there is no ground between Socialism and Capitalism, and these ideologies are not on the same planet, let alone the same galaxy.
You cannot - not impliment either - and expect to get the benefits of both

Blair is too busy being a "Bush-poodle" to concentrate on matters here. Meanwhile, immigration goes unchecked, crime rates rise & the world just falls apart round him. Is he bothered? No, I don't think so.

the govt. is weak and blair knows his legacy is iraq and being the first PM to be questioned by police in No 10. there is no direction, but i think "ignorant" doesn't really describe the situation.
