You should never go tanning. You will get wrinkles and skin cancer.

Feel free to go tanning. But remember that tanning is one of the major causes of premature aging, wrinkles, and sun spots (hyperpigmentation). It's also directly linked to skin cancer. However, many people feel benefits to tanning - the warmth and the UV rays cheer them up and make them look healthier.

As far as lotions, you need to only use those designed for sunbeds. Mineral oil based lotions will harm the plastic in the beds - which you could then be held liable to replace.

The only way to avoid wrinkles from tanning is to not tan. At the very least, use a sunscreen on your face, neck, chest, and hands - the first places to show age.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide. : )

wrinkles cannot be avoided if you are tanning.. because to avoid them, you would need to use an SPF to protect your skin... and then, what would be the point? Tanning is dangerous.. the lamps give off more harmfull UV rays than the natural sun does. In a sense.. its baking you. Yes, its really popular.. and I think everyone should do what they think is best for them, I would never put anyone down for what they do (I used to tan twice a week on my lunchbreak, after all!) but when you see the damage that is done to peoples skin by tanning beds.. it makes you think twice. I've always heard good things about the spray on tans.. that they look natural, if you dont overdo it!
If you do choose to tan... make sure your salon asks lots of questions about your skin type, so they can determine how long, and how intense, to have your lamps.

Do not start tanning in a tanning bed or from the sun. If you feel you must add some color to your skin I would suggest a spray on tan which you can get at most salons. At your age you have a chance of preserving your skin. I'm 42 and am told constantly that I look like I'm in my 20's, I attribute this to NEVER tanning in beds or outside. I'm able to enjoy the outdoors, but I always use sunscreen.

Well, tanning in general is not good for your skin, but it's your choice. Just remember, there is no 'safe' amount of tanning. Not in the beds, or the sun.

Cosmetically, if your skin tone is already consistent, (no obvious lighter or darker areas anywhere on your body) you don't need to tan. Period.

No! Over tanning could give you cancer!! Besides, can't you tell when someone has been fake tanning? They're skin is like orange, and their hair doesn't match, like when it's natural, due to being in the sun. Just wait until summer and mow your lawn or go to the beach or play sand volleyball or something. But PLEASE, don't go tanning. It looks crappy.
