Use as much as you need, depends on the brands. The soft fluffy kind takes less than the stuff my husband calls "biker wipe" (it's rough & tough, and don't take sh*t off nobody)

hrrrrm, ok old chap...its been about 13 years since i did basic infantry training but i have learned a bit since then. You must follow three rules of engagement:
1. climatic rules.... in humid en moist conditions one ought to use two sheets double folded, in hot en dry one ought to do the job and in freezing/ sub zero temps dont use any as it will just freeze to your anus anyway (i kid you not... after two weeks of artic training in norway u learned to squeeze em of quick before brown ice pop time.. no bs).
2, poo consistancy variables... the more loose the more paper required... add a sheet by each degree of severity.
3. Your status in the field... When yomping/tabbing/on march in the field ect remember that your m8's will prefer your company much more if ya dont smell like crap...carry some stirile baby wipes in your kit, i allways did, just dont let the sergant see em.
when under fire dont worry about paper, you will not have time to drop, squeeze en wipe so dont worry bout it! When in camp/barracks indulge yourself while you can..use handfulls of the stuff !
its not absurd m8... its just getting you used to the fact that its better to get used to using as little as possible for the time that you are totaly fubar and beyond the range of resupply drops...it can happen. just be aware of your pack weight, carry spare esentials (socks, toilet paper, sterile wipes) and dont forget to wash your hands.
Good luck in the service m8, best 5 years of my younger life!

Welll , that depends my friend... if you were in a hurry and had to go real bad, and couldn't get your pants down in time, and then missed sitting down in time, and you were at your friends house, and missed sitting down on the seat before you had to do your business... then i would say you need a whole bunch of sheets as well as your soiled CK's and socks to try and clean up the mess you just made...try not to flush the CK's just wrap them up and sneak them outside before you are caught....

Well I've never actually counted(to my own amazement actually), but I'll take a guess and say ten? Yep. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Yeah just one sounds like a stretch, but hey that's military life right?
