The solution is obvious. It would take an act of God.

First I would think that an understanding that misery is relative and even if the present misery, a product of the solution for the misery that existed before, were to be solved or decreased there will be new miseries to deal with the solutions that server now to decrease the present misery.
We create new technologies that solve the difficulties that could not be solved before and now we have to deal with the realities that the benefits offer. Global warming is one of those miserable aspects of technology of the last century. Over-population is one of the side effects of solving the miseries of the illnesses for example polio, malaria, etc. We have managed to extend the life expectancy with new medicines and hospitals saves lives every day. Insecticides help maintain low the damaging insects and thus we are able to grow more crops but look what happens, DDT was a powerful poison that solved many problems also turned out to be a problem. We will always have a reason to use the word miserable even though it may not indicate the same thing as in the past. Before people had to walk to the store, they were miserably exposed to the elements and other dangers on the road. Now the miserable slobs hate their lives because they get no exercises like getting out and walking to the neighborhood store. They prefer the habit of the ride in the car. A habit that can have its own class of misery too.

To decrease...... All of us should probably....
Teach others to take responsibility for their own actions. To care for all beings that feel. To respect all things on earth. To try to divert or control negative and selfish feelings. Learn to Listen AND to Talk when needed. Try not to be judgmental. Do not limit others in your mind or otherwise because they are not like you. Remember we are all like family everywhere on earth, and act like it. Do not rationalize bad or ignorant actions or thoughts.Take care of the earth for so many reasons connected to relieving misery. Learn. Be open minded. Be respectful of diversity.
This is just one persons wisdom.....I have borrowed much from others.
Also......
Some minor ways to help a lot of people would be to eat healthy fresh food. Not watch TV. (Try to avoid to much information or entertainment that is not interactive.) Get loads of fresh air and exercise. Fill your life with loved ones. Do good deeds that come your way. Have good priorities. Be honest and look for the best in everything. Share....... and don't sweat the small stuff.
The universe is unfolding as it should.
Breathe.
Sounds simple...
and it is.
