And tell me the story....

When my partner and I spent our first Xmas with my family, he was given a bottle of champagne and some 'jack daniels' alcohol chocolate by my cousin, even though everyone knows my partner is a recovering alcoholic and can't touch the stuff.
You should have seen the look on his face when he opened it.
Talk about uncomfortable.
(He just said thanks!)

My partner & i spent the holidays with both of our families last year. Oddly enough while at her mothers house i received presents from the family (we had been together 7 months). Her grandmother gave me a red box and told me not to open it until i got home. To my surprise the box was filled with *Edible Undies, Strawberry Lubricant, Whipped Cream, & a Hand Held Vibrator*. With it came a note saying...."This is for the nights that you may miss a mans touch....Enjoy...Love Granny Mae"

I drink socially but not regularly and was once given three mini bottles of different liquors from a 'Secret Santa'. At the time I thought that was a bit inappropriate for a work related thing. But....
Last year I got a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue label and I am totally fine with that!!! lol

My freshman year of College my boyfriends roomate in the dorms gave me a diamond ring for Christmas. I was quite shocked when I opened it. It is hard to find the words to say when all you are thinking is Why? and How on earth did you think that this would go over well? Of course I did not accept it.

Our family had a "white elephant" gift exchange one year for fun. I got a pair of size 14 women's underwear (like the ones in Shallow Hal the movie) and my hubby got an xxx rated movie. We laughed so hard our sides hurt. Other people got a used plunger, kids snorkel set, a very old fruitcake, some old playing cards, and a donut tire for a car. All very inappropriate, but we had so much fun!

For our first christmas my husband bought his mother and I matching sweaters.

The year before we divorced he bought me a carriage ride and refused to take me on it, told me to go with my girlfriend that he was too busy.

For our last Christmas together he bought me a cheap chipped diamond to replace the one that got lost on my engagement ring.

I filed for divorce shortly after - not because of the gifts but because of the lack of care, consideration or concern for anyones happiness over his comfort.

I just asked a similiar question-lol.
I once got an outfit that was too small & I KNOW the gift giver knew I could not wear it b/c she said "when you lose weight, it will look nice on you".

nothing like that. are you sure your cousin was fully aware? that's just rude.

i went to a work x-mas party and we did the secret santa exchange thing. everybody got each other ridiculous thong underwear. i thought that was inappropriate in a funny sort of way.

I had a few elderly aunts that would give me lacy thong underwear every year when I was about 5 years old to 10 years old. "Mommy, what's this?"
