Heard that conkers keep them away when placed around the house.
Spiders do a lot of hard work keeping away nasty thing like eating flies etc.
Old wives tale that it is unlucky to kill them.
Try looking for a spider catcher seen them in the rubbish post you recive.
My daughter hates them so some one has to catch them for her.
Best of luck but don't squash them.

Try citronella. You can get it from health food shops just put a few drops in some water and spray the room :)
No more spiders! It also works for insects too they hate the stuff!

Buy a spider catcher. Like you, I'm terrified of spiders and these things catch them for you so you can put them outside. Check out spidercatcher.com and see what you think.

u sound about the same age as my kid. he hates spiders too !!
we have a pine cabin in our garden. obviously, insects would be a major problem. for both the cabin and his bedroom i insist on no food or sticky drinks.

no food = no damned spiders.
if they sneak in they die of hunger - tough!!
if there are scraps of food i always reckon
a) it attracts them by smell
b) it provides them with a possible food source
whether by chain or whatever.i haven't seen a spider in his bedroom for about 6 months and i only ever seem to pick up the occasional dead one in the cabin. u can also use an insect repellant. one with a reasonable sort of smell that won't make u feel sick !!!

hope that helps. good luck xx

If you stay within shopping distance of a specialist pet shop (or go online), you need to buy 4 spider-eating birds. But that means you can never open the windows, etc and you need to feed them regularly.

I too dislike them, but I realise that without them this world would be over-run with many other nasties.
I just live and let live, They cannot hurt you, and will be more scared of you.
Think positive
Start by getting a small one on your hand and gradually get bigger ones untill you are no longer afraid.
Why hate them, they do more good than harm

__ now rats they really are to be hated !!

Can you get Hedge apples anywhere? I put them around my house and spiders don't like them. I also put one under my bed!!! They grow on Osage Orange trees and fall off it the fall. They are about the size of a soft ball and are green and bumpy.

Spiders are good! They keep to themselves and keep annoying insects at bay. Give them a chance!
