I've been playing World of Warcraft for a couple of months and I wanted to read some of the books to get a better understanding of the history. Which ones should I read first? Is there a certain order I should follow?

I am sure there is a order. I would go to the book store and look at the first couple pages at the front of it. Normally it says the order of the books.

The books are good examples of understanding the feel of the game. But if you were interested in the history of the world. The War of the Ancients would be the first books from a chronological standpoint.
You can familiarize yourself with some of the history by going to to the World of Warcraft website directly. On the left hand side under Game Guide section, there is a link to Story. In there you'll find all sorts of info, from timelines to racial histories. Answers to questions such as "Are the Night Elves different from the Blood Elves?"

Below is a shortcut to their website as mentioned above.

Hope this helps!
