Three to six months

This is the most common response. Being the traditional, by-the-book answer, some doctors will often give this advice for all patients following a miscarriage without adjusting it to suit individual circumstances. In some cases, it may make sense to wait for a few months after a loss. If the pregnancy was further along, it could be that your body does need some time to replenish lost nutrients. If you had a D&C, your doctor may feel it's best to wait in order to be sure your uterine lining properly replenishes itself.

However, in cases such as a very early "chemical" pregnancy or a loss at 5-6 weeks, it is hard to make a case that the body truly needs three months to recover when in many of these cases, a woman might not even know she had miscarried if she was not actively trying for a baby at that point.

I'm verry sorry about your loss thouygh. = (

Hi, I had a miscarriage 6 weeks ago. I was 6 weeks gone and I was devestated, I am really sorry for your loss. I know how it feels to want to start right away, adn we did. I am now going back to the docs on Friday as I am now 6 weeks and 4 days late with my period, we went and did a test adn there was a faint line. Sometimes that could be due to having some hormones still left inside so I am not going to get my hopes up just yet. They saw you are at your most fertile after having a baby and after a miscarriage. I would advise that you are emotionally ready and feel physically ready. Good luck through this terrible time.Let me know how you get on, if thats ok?

First off I'm sorry about the miscarriage. Don't think you can't get pregnant again because of this. It happens in 2% of women who are pregnant. In order for you to have a "safe" pregnancy I'd suggest waiting 6 months to a year. Due to your body being in a weak state right now and needs time to recooperate. If you get pregnant too fast your body might not be strong enough and your uterus might give out and cause you to have another miscarriage. I'm speaking from experience, I had a miscarriage last year with twins and now a year later I have a beautiful baby girl. Don't give up.

I'm very sorry about what happened. Wait for the scan and ask for some further advice to discuss probable causes. Maybe coming off the pill so soon before you came pregnant has a part in it. I think the best time is when you feel emotionally ready....physically your body will natural deal with itself. Just take your time and things will happen....I think sometimes the harder you concentrate on trying...it puts pressure on the enjoyment of the lovemaking. The more relaxed you are the more chance that nature will takes it's course.
My best wishes and all the best!

Hello, sorry to hear about your loss. I came off the pill and fell pregnant within weeks. I was experiencing problems from day one of falling pregnant..... I went for a scan at 10 weeks to be told that the baby had died inside me, after being told that I was heartbroken. Later that day had to have the baby removed. Got told to wait before trying again. Lost the baby in March, but by the April was pregnant again and went on to have a healthy baby boy in Nov 2006. Good Luck to you, Take care x

until ur doc has said u've lost it dont give up hope! some ppl still bleed when pregnant, discharge is also common. if u have, then i'm sorry 4 ur sad news. i think the best time 2 start trying again (depending on the reason 4 the loss) is about 3 months, that way ur body will be strong again, otherwise if u fall 2 early ur body could reject it again. i hope things work out ok 4 u.

Talk to your doctor about it, but I believe it depends on why you miscarried. You mentioned you are recently off the pill, and that could be why you miscarried. Your doctor will be able to tell you when it is safe to start trying and the hormones from the pill are out of your system. I'm sorry for your loss.

wait and see what the hospital says for sure... i hope everything is OK.

after a miscarriage i think they recommend to wait until after your next period befor you try again.

i have a friend who lost a baby and then must have fallen pregnant within 2 weeks of that miscarriage (she never had another period). she had a perfectly normal pregnancy and now has a beautiful boy and is expecting again.

i hope everything works out OK for you

I had a miscarriage on 10-31-06.....I also passed the sac....... My Dr told me after my first period, because your extremely fertile right now.....You can get pregnant NOW if your not careful, even before your first period........ Id recommend having 1 period first, because if theres anything left, it will pass with your next cycle...
