Says who? Maybe chefs who are men are better respected because society expects women to be able to cook, but when a man can cook, it is something special.

Every good male chef learns from childhood how to cook, 9 outta 10 times they were taught by a woman.
My son is 9 and for xtra money he's putting together a cookbook of his favorite recipes. He's wanted to be a chef since he was 5, but if I (mom=woman) dont encourage his dream, how will he learn?!?

If it's true, maybe it's because men eat a lot more than women (or at least I know I eat a lot more than any woman I know). This gives men a wider variety of taste histories to compare, and may help them to better craft delicious foods.

how is this a question? there's no proven fact out there that men are better chefs than women. you can't just generalize a dumb question like this. just because you see many men on tv that are chefs, like emeril or whatever, doesn't mean that men are better than women. what a stupid question. that's like saying why are men smarter than women? they're not, obviously, you just proved that.

I think every Iron Chef that I've seen have been male. I think there was one instance where there was a woman, but only one.
