My main favorite movies are Ghost World, American Beauty, and Run Lola Run, and to a lesser extent Being John Malkovich.

There are really two big elements that inhibit the movies I recommend. The first is boringness, I really don't mind movies with very little plot or slow moving action. I try to make sure that the person I recommend a movie like this to won't mind. The second factor I usually have to think about is how strange the movie is. I'm really into avant-garde techniques, which most people don't appreciate much. As for specifics I'd say any of those old slow paced black and white foreign films for the first reason, and any of those really bizarre indie or "cult" movies for the second.

You need to go to Hollywood video.com that is exactly what they do for you. You rate a list of movies and they give you 10 that would suite you. The more movies you rate the more acurate they are.
