Definitely use FTP or some other direct connection method. Since these are confidential documents, you want to use a secure connection. So you need FTP over SSL.
FTP works when one of you has a server and one of you has a client. It doesn't matter who has which. I recommend using Filezilla (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FileZilla ) because the group creates both a FTP server and a FTP client. One of you installs the server, one installs the client.

Why not use the sending file facility of your instant messenger. Surely, YM or MSN Messenger can do this.
