She came to work for me a few months ago and we've had a rough couple of weeks recently.

Something from your heart. My husband picked up a nice cozy blanket for me the other day and that was the sweetest thing ever... cause I get up really early and it is always so cold in the house. It isn't about the gift... it is really the thought that counts.

Get her exactly what she wants.
If she hasn't told you then how about you plan a nice romantic night at a fancy hotel, roses and candlelight, her favorite music, slow dancing and 100% of your attention all night long!
She'll love it...But make it a surprise. How about Christmas eve??? If not make it in the form of a gift card with the date blank for her to fill in .
Hope all goes terrific.
good luck

How about a collection of vouchers for her to use as she needs them. You could make them good for things such as:

"one back rub during a stressful day at the office"
"my immediate help with anything, no waiting - I'll just be there"
"a foot rub before bed".
"2 hours peaceful alone time to read your book"

You get the idea. You can be creative and light hearted and make vouchers for events/activities that mean something to you as a couple.
Perhaps the last one in the pack could be for a spa day or similar.

Hope you get it right :)
