So do we keep lowering the bar to make minorities look good? Do we keep lowering requirements to get into schools? Do we hire the minority and keep telling that they are equal to whites just so they "feel good about themselves" and then the "problem solvers" bigots and racists?

You are correct.

If we can't honestly discuss a problem, then it only festers and gets worse over time.

Eventually, the repressed rage can become too much, and then the so-called "oppressed minorities"(!?) really will find themselves being oppressed, or at least, in great peril of severe retribution.

Our government does not have the right, nor is it practical, to enact legislation to FORCE different races and cultures to like each other.

History teaches that the pendulum of social fashion swings both ways, so what is popular and "politically correct" today may well be determined to be unacceptable by our descendents.

You are so right, social problems today are not solved because people are too sensitive and narrow-minded. What you just wrote here is proof positive of that narrow-mindedness.

Get rid of affirmative action! It makes too many whites think that every minority who is accepted into college or got that job over them MUST have gotten it only out of pity, or that the bars were lowered for them. My ACT, SAT, grades, IQ and work ethic are all extremely high, and yet we still end up with people making blanket assumptions like the ones posed in the question here.

To make things fair, all we need to do is simply focus our attention on the elementary and secondary education that minorities are getting. Don't change the standards for jobs and schools, change the standards of education and make it of equal quality for all.

Our social problems will never be resolved so long as folks continue think that every minority succeeds only by the "grace and charity" of the majority. What baloney!

I was going to agree with you until I read the rest of the question. I can't support someone with racial bias. Standards are standards, and they should not be lowered for any cause if they cannot be lowered for everyone. For example, if a woman wants to be a firefighter, and she passes all the physical tests at the males standards, she should be hired. She should be rated the same as a man. However, some places are still old-fashioned and don't feel it is a woman's profession. In this case, affirmative action may help to change views.

I think the bar is being lowered in life in general. I don't think companies should be as worried about "feelings" business is business go home and cry and look for a new job if you don't like yours. I think people should advance in their career completely based on merit no matter what color they are. I think that the longer society dwells on the "unfairness" of culture the bigger problem it will become.

YES! In fact, black people didn't used to have such problems before the era of political correctness. Crime was lower, morals and families were stronger, educational standards were higher (even though segregated). How are we going to fix all the damage that's done if we don't even admit we caused it?

The answer to your comment is EDUCATION. People all around this tiny planet called Earth should have access to a proper education. It is also true that Nature has its balance, and no men or animal stars his/its life with the same chances, but if we consider ourselves superior to animals we should try to change this "status quo". In the end the issues you raised will no longer exist.

You're right. People are waaaay to sensitive today. Be real about how you feel. Even though I may not agree or like what you say or how you feel but atleast its honest. I have more respect for people being honest then people who always likes to sugar coat and pacify issues.
