I am feeling the same way. Just because all of us in this country or world may not celebrate Christmas, doesn't mean that those that do, shouldn't. It is sad that your son can't even say Merry Christmas in school because it has Christ in it.
Keep on saying Merry Christmas to others. If they dont like it oh well. You celebrate it and don't let anyone else tell you different!
Oh, and Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
One year when I worked in a grocery store, I said Merry Christmas to a regular customer who came in almost every day. The manager heard me say this to him and his wife and pulled me aside and said the next time he is in not to say it to him but just happy holidays because the customer did not celebrate Christmas. Well, yes, how was I supposed to know that he did not celebrate Christmas? I did tell the manager that I ddidn't know this and you can't tell who celebrates it or not so I would not go around asking every customer who did or didn't so I could say merry christmas or happy holidays.

Yes, I'm happy that most places I go saying "Merry Christmas" is more then acceptable, But I hate that there is anywhere that people find it offensive to say the phrase. I simply find it idiotic that someone would think of it as rude. One of my friends said just the other day," I don't see why it's such a big deal of saying "merry Christmas" in the media. When there's a sale they don't say "Holiday Sale", they say "Christmas sale" So why can't they say Merry Christmas to their costumer's ?" It's so true and so sad how people try not to offend others with the simple thing's they say now. Think about it, they want so much not to "Expose children to Christianity" in schools that they forget that whatever they do can be qualified as a "raced" or "Religious" comment. And they also don't notice that there is a lot more religions in school, When you set up decorations for Halloween, anyone can,and should say," You're celebrating Wicca." When you go to science class they aren't teaching science, they're teaching a religion called "Evaluation". I'm sorry if I'm not answering clearly, or in the few word's you hoped for, I only wanted to say what I felt needed to be said. Merry Christmas to you all, and good day.

I don't see what is so wrong with saing Merry Christmas, OR Happy Holidays!
If you're offended by people saying Happy Holidays, then your on the other side. Maybe that person that said 'Happy Holidays' to you doesn't care if YOU are offend.
We have numerous holidays at this time of the season. I personally think we should be able to say whatever we feel like. You don't hear the Jewish people getting irate over no one saying Happy Hannukah!
Say whatever you wish, and believe whatever you wish. We may have been founded on Christianity, but we are a melting pot, we need to accept that there are other religions, and respect them as well.

First off, see the hypocrisy of the Schools to limit the free speech of your son, yet allow all sorts of "rights" activist (feminist, gay) to invade the premises.
Also, folks like Boxer are so small minded that they must assault tradition(s) that have a Christian heritage because any other protest is deemed "intolerant". Christmas is also an easy target for the so-called "intellects" as their thinking is limited to this earth and nothing beyond.
Please continue to not care if people are offended by your traditions. I'm right behind you.
Oh, and Merry Christmas.

No one is assaulting christmas. This country was not found on specifically christian beliefs is was founded on the basis of religious freedom. This country has always been a melting pot of people from other coutries with different backgrounds and religions. That hasn't changed. There's nothing wrong with saying happy holidays, it encompasses everyone and every holiday of the season. My question is why must this time of year be so secular? The modern celebration of christmas is nothing like it was when the coutry was founded and is rooted in Pagan traditions anyway. If you really want it to be a "Christian" holiday....take down your holly and mistletoe (sacred to the Druids and most Pagans), take down the trees and decorations (also Pagan), forget about Yule logs (Yule is Pagan), Don't give gifts (also of various Pagan roots) and just go to church.

I think the so-called "war on Christmas" is mostly fabricated by the media. I've never heard of anyone getting offended by being wished any sort of happy holiday--regardless of the religion behind it. True there are one or two wackos out there ruining it for the rest of us--they're probably also the same people suing McDonalds because they're fat and suing Phillip Morris because they smoke--but a small litigious minority speaks far louder than a reasonable and quiet majority. But it makes for great news, so the media shoves it down our throat. Sad really.

I think we're all getting too blasted sensitive about everything. Religion is to be taken seriously, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have some sense! Heck, if someone wished me a Happy Hanukkah or Happy Solstice or whatever you say for any of the Islamic celebrations, I might be a little surprised, but I'd reply with "Thank you, you too!" cuz it's the wish of good will that's important.

Yes, I am sick of it too. Let us celebrate in peace!! Some people act like we are trying to FORCE them to celebrate the holiday just because we want to put up a Christmas tree in public. We are just trying to enjoy a holiday, why is that so threatening to them? I have never heard one complaint from a non Irish person about someone having a shamrock hanging up somewhere on St. Patricks Day...why is this any different? (Oh yeah, the whole religion thing, huh?......well, they need to get over it)

Funny, I have seen no signs of this "War on Christmas." I have a large collection of Xmass cards, even though I am atheist and they all know it. And no it does not offend me, I know they mean well. It is the other problem that worries me where people want to force me to pay for them putting their decorations and emblems up on my property. When they do that, and they do, it is a direct assault on my rights.

I am. Leave the holiday alone. In my house it will always be old fashioned. That's the way I was raised so that's the way my kids will be raised. Merry Christmas.
