it seems to be taking me ages.. I've given myself until Sunday but have only written about 214 words now...

I can't believe I'm writing this essay and there's 5 days left until Xmas.. how rubbish is that! I'll probably still be writing the damned thing on Xmas day!!

If you only write about 200 words a day it will take you two weeks. So much for your holiday.

Make it 500 words a day then have yourself a merry little Christmas.

It depends mostly on the topic you're writing on.For me,a persuasive or expressive paper would take me no more 2 days (2hr/day).If you're writing on a research paper, get more sources and spread your points.Don't wait until last minute betters-til Xmas.Whenever a ideal struck your mind, write it down even if you're asleep and something comes to mind.Or else you will be thinking about the length of the paper and will never finish writing.
List your points on a notepad, then start writing on the points.I sometimes start explaining my points before writing the introduction because it's quite difficult to figure out how to begin an essay. If you write about three sentences on a point and you can't get more to write, continue with the next paragraph. As you continue to write, new ideas will come up so that you fix them back into your paragraphs.Save whatever you write on a storage device so that you can continue anytime you want to.If you don't sit up,you may not beat the deadline.

It can be a real plod sometimes. I might take as long as you to write the first 200 words, but then I get an idea and knock off the next 500 in an hour or two. Then it's another hard slog for the next 200...

If you organize all your thoughts and information on a piece of paper in "bullets" like:
** thought
** thought
** thought

Then write up an outline of how you want to organize your paper, it will be quicker. Then all you have to do is take the info you wrote in bullet form and put it where it belongs in order to the outline. I find that to be easier than just writing for the amount of words. That way you are more likely to not just go back and forth from thought to thought and you arent thinking as much about how long it is. When you are doing the bullets you dont have to do complete sentences as long as you know what you are talking about, then when you put it in essay form you can ellaborate further and one small thought will expand to be more detailed.

Hope this helps.

A 2500 word essay takes most people a morning to write

Hi Tripper,

It is not the essay that takes the time, it is the research.

Essays take about 3 hours to write properly. The research can take a long time.

I used to work for a newspaper, so 2500 words usually took about 4 hours and then another 2 for editing.

I type about 35 words per minute.

i do no longer comprehend approximately you, yet papers for my English training in college consistently took for-*******-ever. i'm guessing I spent a reliable 5 days directly on them. by utilising directly, I advise I only ever labored on the papers all day (different than going to class and ingesting). in spite of this, however, i'm a perfectionist who hates writing.
