It sounds good, the only thing that I would change would be to replace the Microsoft Works suite (which stings) with the Microsoft office 2003 for student/teachers. The rest sounds very good for a student.
Good luck

well, good thing that it's an HP and NOT A DELL!!! for the price, eh, not so much because of two things: the processing speed and the Celeron M processor...you can buy a Mac mini for 600 and get better specs due to their standard RAM and standard intel core 2 duo processor =)....and the other problem, its windows...im just kidding but it seems alright though if that's waht you need, if all that suits your needs, then you should go for it =)

That looks like a fairly good deal. Decent memory and HD capacity. Is there a good warranty on it as well? usually there is a standard 1 year. Is it extra?
HP also have a 10% off coupon at http://www.24houredeals.com/hpshopping-coupons-359-mer.html Did you try that and see if it will drop the price some as well.

What I would be concerned about is the weight of the laptop. The first laptop I bought was a monster! It was a real pain to carry it and all my books around campus. I rarely brought it with me to school because it was so heavy! Now I have a Sony Vaio that weighs about 3 pounds. Much better!!

Looks good. You don't need to buy an antivirus program (Download AVG online and CCleaner...both nice programs) Also Word would be a good idea. Most computers come with any other programs they may need as well...so limit software and buy it as needed.
As for the celeron- they aren't using it for other then school and personal so it would be fine I would gather.

The Rant: college young ones (pupils). i've got faith there friendlier and nicer to human beings. I additionally think of a few of them are extra open to listening to different's persepctives and perspectives. lots of those I meet care approximately there destiny and prefer to do properly. a number of them are very into helping others (those are in many circumstances effective, friendly human beings)- suitable acquaintances, provider communities, Habitat for Humanity, lively Minds, etc. additionally the english majors/training majors are for the main section, very candy human beings and not pretentious because of the fact the media makes them out to be. midsection college and intense college (pupils) are very immature (maximum of them). intense college pupils (enormously pupils who bypass to non-public preperatory faculties (with a community provider requirement) and blue-ribbon public faculties) look slightly extra inspired to prevail at school. midsection Schoolers tend to be very into setting up in with the familiar pupils and which ability drugs, compulsive mendacity, bullying/harrassment/attack, theft, binge ingesting, and using ATVs on roads/scamming human beings on craigslist. comparable component with virtually all public intense schoolers. So i decide on the college pupils ninety% of the time over the midsection/intense schoolers.
