You can't really ever say that all of the models of a certain manufacturer have certain problems because they use completely different parts in each car. Personally, I currently own a mazda 6 and my family has owned 5 mazdas before and we have never had transmission problems and have never know of people having transmission problems with mazda's. My inlaws have had many different GM cars but they was never a common problem area and in some cases there were none.

GM are great American made cars. I have a 1995 Chevy Tahoe and it still runs like brand new. My husband has a 1996 Suburban, also runs well, although a little trouble with the air last summer. We also have a 1966 Chevelle, it is a drag car and it runs like lightening!! We are big Chevy fans, and if its not a Chevy it has to be GM!! My Dad has had nothing but good luck with his many Buicks and my sister with hers as well.

Go to the library or book store and check out a copy of Consumers Reports Used Car Buying Guide.

Look for the black circles and half-black circles in the columns and you'll have your answer.
