People are saying to plug an adapter into a tape deck but I DO NOT HAVE A TAPE DECK.
So there really is no cord that apple sells seperately? This sounds very hard...and complicated.

Some car stereos have the ability to attach a cable that connects to an Ipod. If yours does not then there are transmitters that plug into your lighter and Ipod and send the signal to an unused FM station.

You can buy an adapter to accomplish that. One kind will plug into the bottom of your iPod and the other end is a fake cassette tape that you stick in your car's tape deck. Or you can get the kind that will broadcast a weak FM radio signal. Then you simply tune your car radio to that band and there you go. The second option is supposedly not as nice in sound quality. But I've heard both and can tell no difference. In fact, the tape decks in both our cars are fairly picky about that fake cassette thing anyway. One of them makes a weird squeaky noise and the other keeps trying to flip the tape. You can get either almost anywhere... Radio Shack, Target, whatever.

If you have a tape drive, the best thing to do is to get one of those tape systems. It's a dummy tape that has a cord coming off of it. You plug it into your headphone jack and the music is pumped through your car radio. That will give you the best sound, but many cars don't have tape decks or they do, but it won't accept the dummy tapes.

In that case you need a radio transmitter. They make them specifically for the nano. Basically it transmits the music from your ipod over your car radio. You set it to transmit on a certain frequency and tune your radio to the same frequency. However, if you choose a frequency that is broadcasting you will get static.

I am guessing that the cd deck that you bought from sony came with a tape with a cord attached to the cd player. That is what you would use just put the piece plugged into your cd player on the top of your iPod. If your cd player did not come with it or is installed in your car then just go to a best buy or circuit city or sony store and buy a tape (they are black in color) that has a cord with it that has tip that looks just like the tip of headphones.

If you have a cassette player, you can buy a cassette adaptor for around 20 bucks.

If not, you will need to go to a car audio installer, and have them wire a hookup into your stereo system. It will cost about $65-$95 bucks depending on where you get the work done.

You have to buy a cd player or something that has the in-put outlets (the red, and white connectors). You go to Radio Shack and buy a hook up that connects to it and than plugs to your iPod. Than just install it. I did the same thing and it works GREAT!
