If you ovulated later than you usually do, your cycle will be longer than usual. The luteal phase of your cycle is very consistent; delays happen in the follicular phase, before you ovulate.
So: how long is your luteal phase usually? Use that to figure out when your period is due this cycle.
For example, say you usually have a 28 day cycle with ovulation at/about CD14, and a 14 day luteal phase (so that you usually get your period at 15dpo, or "CD29" ). In that case, if you did not ovulate this cycle until CD19 (5 days late), your period would still be expected at 15dpo...but that would now be the equivalent of CD34. Does that make sense? (For some reason the example seems rather convoluted, but in reality the math is simple!)
If your temps keep getting higher of course that sounds promising! But I would wait to test (if you can) until your period is due. If you have concerns about drinking for the holidays you may want to test before Christmas eve, understandably, although as 12 dpo you still may not get a positive even if you are pregnant.
HTH. Good luck!
Edited to add: If I understand your question correctly, you ovulated late this cycle. If you didn't ovulate late, and your luteal phase is always this short, you should talk to your doctor. A short luteal phase can be problematic with TTC; your body needs sufficient time for implantation to occur and for your body to start producing hcg in the event of fertilization, and if your uterine lining is typically shed "too soon," there may not be sufficient time for that to happen.

If you ovulated on the 12th, then expect your period around the 24th-28th. (ovulation occurs 12-16days before your period).
Implantation of fertilized eggs takes 6-12days after ovulation. Since it is only day 8, I would say it is a little too soon to test right now. I'd try to wait until after the 28th to test.
You said that you might have some possible "pregnancy" symptoms. Your symptoms *could* very well be from a pregnancy, but try not to get your hopes up in case they're not. They could also be from your period coming (I know I get nauseaus before my period) and they could be "mental" symptoms too. In your mind, you want to be pregnant so badly that your body will "create" these symptoms to ease your mind. (does that make sense?)
I hope this helps!! Happy Holidays and I hope you get what you want!!

typically day 28 is the best time to test. Your ovulation can actually go from days 11-24. Being honest, I don't really go by all those "scientific answers" LOL MY body does what it wants, when it wants to. But a simple answer is if you are supposed to get your period tomorrow I would take a test Saturday morning. Good luck! Happy Holidays to you too!

I think the best bet is to test about 19 days after your ovulation, or if you are not sure when you ovulated, then you can test day before you expecting period.

Unprotected intercourse intercourse the day gone by and you're ovulating in the present day - you have extra powerful possibilities of conceiving. even with the undeniable fact that, do a Ovulation attempt in the present day to substantiate your ovulation. How quickly to purpose for being pregnant --> a minimum of 10 to 12days from the date of ovulation (No guess-paintings ovulation please).

Stop worrying about your periods, they come different dates sometimes,
If u are pregnant , u will miss 2 periods in a row and get severe morning sickness and throw up yellow fluids and your boyfriend will too.
Just be happy and go wid the flow, stop worrying .
