It's difficult to say, as many cases go unreported for the poor unfortunate animals. Too many are being mistreated around the world, in one way or another.

Way too many, there is no justice for animals, if they get mistreated, abused etc. the owners get a slap on the wrist and the poor animal gets destroyed, show me the justice in that

An enormous amount.
Not every country in the world is as squeamish about the way they treat animals as we are in the UK. In Spain they abuse Donkeys, in Turkey and Eastern Europe it's performing bears, elsewhere anything could be going on.
We only mistreat dogs and cats by feeding them too much so that they become obese.

This is impossible to answer. Most animal cruelty goes unnoticed or unreported. Truth is, people don't think of animals are living breathing things. They treat them like possessions. Animals have feelings too!!

To damn bloody many, you wouldn't treat your grannie like it so why a pet. Makes me sick animal cruelty and everyone who does it should have the same treatment done back to them to see how they like it.

I work in an Slaughter house, there are loads mistreated in there!!!
Some even get killed!!

contact the RSPCA as they carry out many of the prosecutions for animal cruelty
