Well this is just a little something I have noticed while reading YA answers. It seems to me most conservative want the border secured. You have minutemen trying to stop people and getting arrested.
As for dealing with the war on terror, since 9/11 there hasn't been another attack on US soil so there must be effectiveness in the procedures which are in place.

So, a state that supported and sponsored terrorism and had training facilities for terrorists and also was making WMD was not a potential threat?
Why should anybody give any credibility to your assessment?

your not going to like this but here it is anyway. If we dont have a US friendly govt in the middle east our economy will be destroyed. Ahmadenijad has said multiple times as well as Saddam a while back that they want to limit the resources that flow to the western democracy. I dont care how safe your borders are if your economy is in shambles you cant protect anything. and in a greater scale if we are totally cut out our military would be brought to a stand still. Remember this is one of the main points that most historians say was the downfall of Hitler he lost the ablility to effectively mobilize due to lack of resources. Ofcourse his was on the offensive if we follow that path it would effect our defense strength.

If you're talking about Iraq, both are important. You probably would've said Afghanistan posed little threat to the US too, prior to 9-11.

I said it before and I'll say it again: You cannot fight terrorism. We are not in a war. Terrorists are sectional cells who do not abide by any governments' ruling. Terrorists are invisible enemies, but we can't go around accusing people of terrorism (remember McCarthyism? Salem Witch Trials? kind of like that...). The only way to PREVENT terrorism is intelligence. And believe me, from the majority of your answers, America is definitely lacking in that...
