I say that the different races of the world are all different. They are not the same "inside" despite skin colour and physical characteristics. Each race is (on average) different. Some races are more intelligent than others while some are physically better than others while some are more adapted to certain climates, etc. So the races are NOT the same. There is MUCH more different than just skin colour.

But it doesn't mean that one should disrespect someone of a different race in regards to rights or laws.

Agree/disagree and WHY?

great question! i agree, all people originated from one source, and through climate and hardship adapted mentally and physically for survival. like all animals we overcome, we adapt, we improvise, or we die off.

I disagree!

'Inside' I take to mean not just on a physical plane.

There is no such thing as one race being more intelligent than another. Given certain dynamics, such as environment, educational background - exposure to proper training methods, healthy economy, love, a home where proper values are set and demonstrated daily, strong sense of self, familial support; all of these plus so many more criteria determine how an individual turns out 'inside'.

What do you mean by 'physically better'? Do you refer to beauty? I hope not because beauty comes in all sizes, shapes, colors, you-name-it! When was the last time you watched a beauty pageant (Miss Universe or Miss World); have you taken a look at the athletes - worldwide?

I was not born in a temperate climate, yet I enjoy the weather and have lived in it for very many years - never got the flu or a cold! I cannot bundle up in all those paraphenalia as the locals and not suffocate. How's that for adaptation?!

In closing, let me say that you ought to refer to 'ethnicity' not 'race'. That is the correct terminlogy.

And no, I would not disrespect you in any way.

I think the races that have evolved around the world are a result of climate and area. I do not think there is any race superiority or smart race or physically better race, I think different races may have been predisposed to things other have not through the ages.

You can tell this by just the diseases that affect certain races and not others, that over time some races have had to deal with completely different ailments.

I disagree. There is much more variance between individuals than between statistical racial averages. For example: within a group of white people one person may have a low I.Q. while another has a high I.Q. If you measure people from another race, you would most likely find at least one person with the same low I.Q. and another with the same high I.Q. Studies stating racial averages almost always include only one particular subset of the race, such as "blacks in the northeastern U.S.". For these studies or polls, any statistical averages counted are a result of cultural and/or regional trends, NOT resulting from what's in the DNA of the race.

The only truth to your statement are physical factors or other genetically-related biological conditions. Examples are: sensitivity to sunlight, susceptibility to diseases like sickle-cell anemia, eyesight disorders. These are characteristics that result from DNA and could be linked to a person's race.

Even these, however, are not always race specific since more and more people born today are "in between" the traditional race definitions. For example, if a person is 3/8 "white" + 3/8 "black" + 1/8 Asian + 1/8 Hispanic then what race are they?

Races are not the same because people are not the same. No matter how you classify people, there will always be people who are weak and intelligent in any group. To say one race is "stronger" than another is not an accurate statement, though.

I don't agree. I think the matter of race is only skin deep and it stops there. While there are diverse cultures and laws that regulate society, brain matter and brawn are attributes alloted to all races across the board. There are pioneers of all races that have in the past and in the present day, contributed greatly to the good of all mankind. While it's true that we are all products of our environment, it doesn't mean that we can't break out of our molds and achieve greatness and a clear understanding of our fellow men.

Before you make your conclusion wait for scientists to develop ways of testing what you say.

Thirty years ago feminists said that women were the same as men on the inside. The only reason why women lagged behind men in for example professorships in mathematics departments of universities was political - men were deliberately halting the natural advancement of women. Whether or not there was some truth in the political explanation, science has since proven that women are generally less adept at spacial thinking than men. (Yes, there are some very good spacial thinkers who are women.)

That is why generally women do not read maps as well as men. (Yes, some women can read maps as well as men.)

So if this trend of study into the differences of gender continues into an examination of racial differences, we may see proof of your guess about racial differences.

But an obvious word of warning: we need to be very careful interpreting the studies. Some people don´t need much excuse to start persecuting ´inferior´ races.

disagree....although if you were to take a particular small group of people and inbreed them..you would start to have problems... In todays global society with its ease of transportation, you wont have separations and wide spread inbreeding into small groups....but you are talking about races...and unless you have given an IQ test to every human on this planet...you are using some weird concocted assumption...and the pure races that anthropologist discuss, dont exist today....there is no link between somebodys' physical characteristics..and their mental ability

Kitty, this question goes to today's Top Ten dumbest questions.

Raise an African in Sweden and he/she'll think like a Swede.

Raise a Cherokee in India, and he'll talk, think and eat like an Indian. He/She'll even believe in Shiva and Vishnu.

Raise an Innuit in Manhattan, and he/she'll probably become a talented stockbroker.

It's all a matter of CULTURE, not RACE.

Up to a point only. I don't think one race is more intelligent than another. Physically better I don't agree with either. Physically different certainly.

I agree. That's why stereotypes persist. Many are true in general to a population but not to an individual. Cultures are different, but we should all honor each other as humans.
