Winning? what is winning,,,,,to kill enough people untill they conform? to your wishes? winning is saving money for humanitarian causes
President Dwight D. Eisenhower in his April 16, 1953 address to the nation: "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."

That we should welcome this newly found sense of reality.I think it's good he now sees what's really happening,I even thought his easement of the situation was honest up to the point of admitting of course these problems wouldn't have been there if the US had stayed out.
I don't support an immediate withdrawal because it would leave the Iraqi people and government defenseless against the many yihadi's.
Iraq was under Saddam not a front in the war on terror but now it clearly is.We can't give in to pressure and just run away. This would sent the message to our enemies that they can scare us away if they hold on long enough.
I do believe in the war on terror and believe Iraq had no place in it but now it does. You break it,you fix it.

He's got two real choices:
a.) Start figuring out how to win.... which involves dealing with the men and supplies that Syria and Iran send into Iraq. If Bush continues to refuse to recognize their involvement, we'll have more of the same for another 3 years, with 3000 more dead Americans, no peace, and no stable government.
b.) Leave immediately and let them fight it out.

Wow. I'm surprised that he actually admitted it. It's so sad that we have been in war for so long now....so many brave soilders have lost their lives. I'll admit that I was angry initially after the 9/11 attack, but time has passed...we have healed, though not forgotten...Nothing good is coming out of them continuing this war. People are losing their lives...families are being torn apart. I don't know, it just seems that the war that's going on has some other purpose that no one but Bush and his close people know the real agenda.

I think now he is saying we are not winning or losing. that goes down better as a political statement. Today he is "clear eyed" about the "way forward". Still claims we can "accomplish our mission" - think that means WIN, ie: keep the oil flowing.

I hope we win in Iraq. Don't you?
International terrorism is caused by dictatorships. Bush's plan is to topple the dictatorships. He's correct. It's not easy, but it's worthwhile.
Do you have a better plan for ending terrorism?

Well myself and the other 1 million Australians who walked in the protest march before our Prime Minister signed us up to this pointless war are thinking to ourselves right now, "we told you so."

You Libs crack me up! He hasn't said any such thing. He has, however acknowledged the fact that Iraq is very dangerous, and not as much progress as we'd wished. That's why he's sending more troops. Get the story straight, Libby.
