Is it sometimes there and somtimes not there?
Mine is sometimes there and sometimes not, but I think there is a loose connection somewhere, anyway since I need the laptop everyday for work etc. I find that a nice quick fix is if you gently push the drive more into the actual laptop, this should make the connections if it is loose. I don't know because I have an HP laptop but is there a light on your drive? if it flashes when you push it in, you can then push the eject button or check the "My Computer" bit and it should be there.
That only works if the connecetion is loose, if it has become totally disconnected, I doubt my solution would work - But if you need a quick fix while over Christmas, try it, you never know, it might work! :)
Oh and there is a chance that the drive is broken but unlessit has had a fall or something dropped on it, I don't think it would be broken.
Good Luck and Merry Christmas

Maybe you should try to get Windows to reload the driver...
Start - Control Panel - System - Hardware (Tab) - Device Manager (Button) - DVD/CD-ROM drives (Double-click) - Right click on the DVD drive - Click on "Uninstall" - Click on "OK"
Then, shut down the computer, wait a few, then power up again.
If that doesn't fix it (and since you computer should still be under warranty), bring it back to the store...

Call the manufacturer or take it back to the place you bought from and have them fix it for you. Since you have it only for two months, it should be under warranty. So, don't try to do anything on your own.

Hi!
I'm afraid you might have to send it over to a service. It seems to me that a cable is detached, or the drive is broken.
Good luck!
